CKUT IS HIRING: CAMPUS ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR (MCGILL WORKSTUDY)

Application deadline - August 6, 2022 @ 5pm

The Campus Engagement Coordinator is a role for an outgoing McGill student passionate about grassroots campus media. CKUT is McGill’s campus radio station since 1987, and students and faculty power much of our programming. The Campus Engagement Coordinator would help with on-campus outreach, attending and organizing on-campus events (like Thursdays Alive, our monthly show of McGill musical talent at Gerts), and helping to enrich CKUT’s programming grid and volunteer base with more McGill talent.

We have shows dedicated just for students; like All Things McGill, a taste of campus happenings and talk, Unfit to Print, the Daily’s radio roundup, and William Shatner’s Whiskey Tears, a late night slot for students to experiment with making radio for the first time.

This role would help recruit for these shows — and hey, you’re welcome to jump in and make radio yourself. This is a flexible, creative, and most of all – fun! – role for a McGill student looking for a unique on-campus job.

Qualifications:

  • Currently studying at McGill, in any year,

  • Experience assisting with and/or promoting events an asset,

  • Social media experience an asset,

  • Experience volunteering or working with on-campus organizations or clubs an asset,

  • Previous experience working or volunteering in a campus-community radio environment is an asset.

This position will be within a hybridized working environment for 10-15 hours/week, paid at $15/hour. The student will work sometimes from our offices on McGill campus, pandemic-permitting, as well as attending on-campus events and gatherings. Therefore, the candidate must be based in Montreal. The candidate must also be eligible for Work Study.

CKUT is a progressive working environment and recognizes experiences outside of the formal workforce as important qualifications. CKUT prioritizes the unique contributions that individuals from traditionally under-represented and oppressed communities bring to our organization, and invites these individuals to apply. We encourage ALL applicants to make mention of the diverse experience that they may have had that would make them qualified for this position.

Please indicate clearly in your cover letter that you would like to be considered for Employment Equity. You are encouraged, but not required, to self-identify if you are part of marginalized and oppressed communities that include but are not limited to: Aboriginal peoples, women, visible and/or racialized minorities, persons with disabilities, immigrant, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and 2-spirited persons.

About us: CKUT is a non-profit, campus-community radio station based at McGill University. CKUT provides alternative music, news and spoken word programming to the city of Montreal, surrounding areas, and around the world 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Hear us at 90.3 MHz on the FM dial, 91.7 by cable, or listen online. CKUT is made up of over 300 volunteers working with a staff of coordinators. As a campus-community radio station, CKUT’s mandate is to provide an essential service to those in the Montreal community whose needs are not met by mainstream commercial radio.

In order to apply for this role, you must be eligible for McGill’s Work Study program. Eligibility requirements are here.

Letters of eligibility will be requested prior to the interview stage. Please send CVs and cover letters to funding@ckut.ca.

We strongly encourage anyone who is excited about this opportunity (and is eligible for Work Study), even if they do not feel they have the desired experience, to please apply!
