Pierre Kwenders is a Montreal singer, writer and DJ born in Kinshasa (Congo) in 1985, and who immigrated to Canada as a teenager.

He was introduced to music in the early 2000s when he participated in his church choir, and began to sing professionally ten years later. He released two EPs and managed to define a sound of his own, which he describes as afro-futuristic, a mix of Congolese rumba and electro.

A major revelation on the Canadian “indie” circuit, he has performed at Montreal’s FrancoFolies and at the Pop Montreal festival in 2013. He was nominated at this year’s Junos for the World Music Album of the Year award.

Pierre is hosting Montreal Sessions every Tuesday from 3pm - 5pm throughout the Month of May.
