On today’s No One Is Illegal Radio we will feature two important presentations that took place in the last month in Montreal, one about the links between criminalization, detention, incarceration and prisons, and another about the links between decolonization and storytelling. We’ll feature part of a panel presentation organized by No One is Illegal and Solidarity Across Borders for the Month Against Prisons called «Carceral Feminism and Ten Months in An Immigration Jail». Arash Aslani, a political refugee to Canada from Iran, spent 10 months as a detainee inside the Laval Immigration Detention Centre and shares his first-hand experiences as a detainee, as well as expose the reality of immigrant detainees in Montreal.
We also feature a presentation «Islands of Decolonial Love: Exploring Love on Occupied Land» given by Leanne Simpson, a writer of Michi Saagiig Nishnaabeg ancestry, author of Dancing on Our Turtle’s Back, The Gift is in the Making, and Islands of Decolonial Love. In her presentation, she shares traditional stories from her land and stories of decolonization.
