Below is an audio documentary about the infamous Sex Garage raid a key moment in LGBT rights activism in Montreal.

Sex Garage was a mostly LGBT after-hours party in the Old Port of Montreal that was raided on July 16th 1990, entailing numerous arrests and police violence and harassment. This sparked protests and demonstrations that would lead to a new relationship between LGBT people and public opinion, as well as the formation of (now no longer existent) Divers/Cite.

This audio piece is a discussion with CKUT allum Puelo Deir and Linda Dawn Hammond, who were both there that night. Linda took photos of the raid and police violence, which were instrumental in holding the police accountable and publicizing the events. They discuss that night, as well as what has and has not changed over the past 28 years.
