Seven student groups at McGill have been collaborating for many months in order to address the lack of a sexual assault policy at their university. Last week, they were able to launch their website so the McGill community could gain a better understanding of their demands. The website includes an open later to the McGill administration, a petition and a proposed sexual assault policy. CKUT spoke with Kai O’Doherty from the Union for Gender Empowerment and Brooke Nancekivell from QPIRG McGIll about the details of the proposed policy and the necessity of it’s institutionalization.

As the threat of cuts continues to loom over Canada’s Federal Civil Service, the Public Service Alliance of Canada is taking action. On the 19th of every month, leading up to the next federal election on October 19th 2015, they are calling attention to the threat posed by austerity measures to the integral service they provide.

We’ll also hear an interview with Guatemalan human rights lawyer Rafael Maldonado from the Guatemalan Centre for Environmental, Social, and Legal Action (CALAS), speaking on the impacts of Canadian multinational mining corporations in Guatemala.
