-on Tuesday morning, members of Demilitarize McGill blocked access to McGill’s Shock Wave Physics Group laboratories, as an act of opposition to military research at McGill. Demilitarize McGill is a campaign organized by students and community members hoping to interrupt McGill University’s history of complicity in war and colonialist violence by ending military research at the institution. CKUT’s Amelie Phillipson spoke with members of the group to bring us an update.
-an interview with Haroun Bouazzi, the president of the Association of Muslims and Arabs for Secularism in Quebec, speaking about recent attacks against Muslims in the province, and the context surrounding Bill 60.
-Street Beat Radio! Street Beat is a collaborative effort between CKUT’s News collective, Chez Pops, and Chez Doris , bringing the voices of Montreal’s homeless directly to your airwaves. Today we’ll hear a special production of a Quebec association of drug users talking about the need for safe injection sites in Montreal, as well as a segment with homeless women at the Chez Doris drop-in center.
