April 18, 2023: Interview with SSYO Founder: Darryl King
Darryl King is the Founder & President of the South Shore Youth Organization; a Teacher at Howard S. Billings Regional high school in Chateauguay; the Vice-President of the Chateauguay Basketball Association and a Co-founder of Elite Basketball Skills Academy
Born and raised on the South Shore of Montreal, Châteauguay to be exact, Darryl King had a strong affinity for athletics, academics and was dedicated to serving his community. Having realized his passion for teaching and mentoring youth early, he took a nonlinear path to achieve his dream of becoming a high school teacher at his alma mater, graduating in 2022 from McGill at the young age of 45.
Darryl has always dreamed of starting a non-profit aimed at empowering youth, and was further fueled by his time working at community organizations such as Tyndale St-George’s , Leave Out Violence (LOVE) Montreal and completing DESTA’s entrepreneurship program with Dave McKenzie. Now, he is living his vision with the goal of reaching just one youth a day. Though a quiet and humble leader, his impact on those around him is resounding.
Join us on Tuesday April 18, 2023 from 7-8.30pm to find out more about this Community Leader and his journey on CKUT 90.3FM or www.ckut.ca
