A show that highlights new research being conducted by underrepresented groups in STEM. Hosted by Allie, Amelie, and Nour, STEMinism comprises a mashup of interviews with scientists, young and old, where we summarize and discuss new published research in a way that makes it easy for anyone to understand. We aim to make current research accessible to everyone, all the while playing some local tunes along the way.

Today we are talking to Zaid Al-Azzawi. He is an MD-PhD student at the MNI in Montreal, investigating alpha-synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's Disease. After discussing the nitty-gritty of his research and his path toward a career in academia, we delve into his approach to and struggles in bridging the gap between bench and bedside.
