Founded in 1999 and formerly known as Sigaw ng Bayan, Radyo Kapwa is an inclusive Filipino/a/x community and cultural radio show that celebrates the diversity and difference of people with roots to the Philippines. With three historical colonial invasions, multiple waves of migration worldwide, and over 7000 islands, we recognize and honour that Filipino/a/x/s are not a monolith. We provide a wide range of programming, music, and discussion topics to reflect this diversity.

Radyo Kapwa aims to share their platform with grassroots community organisers and organisations, as well as interviews with inspiring members of our community. Our framework is based on values rooted in decolonization, and restorative and transformative justice. Our mission is to create an anti-patriarchal, anti-racist, anti-homophobia, anti-transphobia, faith inclusive, non-ableist, trauma-informed space.

March 20, 2024: Ep. 86: Simon Bondoc, Community Organizer, Activist, Queer Church Person

For today’s broadcasting tune in to listen to Simon Bondoc (he/him) who wears many hats in Moh'kins'tsis on Treaty 7 territory. He is Kapampangan on his dad's side, and Bisayang Hiligaynon on his mom's. He is a proud kuya to two brothers and a loving kapwa to his communities. He is also a starting activist and organizer with Anakbayan Alberta, a non-profit worker and an active church person.

His work and activism focus on highlighting the voices of those on the margins, particularly racialised, 2SLGBTQ+, and working class voices, to the Christian faith, the youth, and the society at large.

Simon is proudly 1.5 gen, queer, and neurodivergent, can swear fascists off in English, Tagalog, and some Québécois French, and has a degree in International Relations from the University of Calgary to intellectually prove them wrong. When he has spare time, he likes to sing, play piano, cook, and enjoy nature.
