&A show that highlights new research being conducted by underrepresented groups in STEM. Hosted by Allie, Amelie, and Nour, STEMinism comprises a mashup of interviews with scientists, young and old, where we summarize and discuss new published research in a way that makes it easy for anyone to understand. We aim to make current research accessible to everyone, all the while playing some local tunes along the way.

October 25, 2023: MKUltra experiments (starting at 30min in the recording)
Today, we discuss the MKUltra project. The MKUltra experiments in Montreal were part of the CIA's covert project aimed at developing mind control techniques. Conducted by Dr. Cameron at the Allan Memorial Institute in the 1950s and 1960s, these experiments involved administering LSD, electroconvulsive therapy, and sensory deprivation to unwitting patients. The goal was to erase and reprogram the minds of individuals, often resulting in severe psychological and physical harm to the participants.
