Founded in 1999 and formerly known as Sigaw ng Bayan, Radyo Kapwa is an inclusive Filipino/a/x community and cultural radio show that celebrates the diversity and difference of people with roots to the Philippines. With three historical colonial invasions, multiple waves of migration worldwide, and over 7000 islands, we recognize and honour that Filipino/a/x/s are not a monolith. We provide a wide range of programming, music, and discussion topics to reflect this diversity.
Radyo Kapwa aims to share their platform with grassroots community organisers and organisations, as well as interviews with inspiring members of our community. Our framework is based on values rooted in decolonization, and restorative and transformative justice. Our mission is to create an anti-patriarchal, anti-racist, anti-homophobia, anti-transphobia, faith inclusive, non-ableist, trauma-informed space.

September 25, 2024: Ep. 113: T.I.T.A. Talks SEP'24 w/ Kat Daaca
Kat Daaca (she/her/siya) is bringing big hot tita energy to Radyo Kapwa through her podcast Tita Talks. Tita (to inspire thoughtful action) talks, launched in 2023, is a place to tap into collective power and wisdom through our stories of inspired action. Through storytelling, the podcast is a gathering place, a soft place for us and our stories to land, where our stories exist in genuine curiosity, (un) learning, and sharing, free from extraction and exploitation. Kat is a community organizer and educator.
She is the founder of reclaim your wealth, a workshop for BIPOC community to explore and decolonize their beliefs around negotiation and learn the skills to use negotiation to inspire daily acts of liberation. She is presently the vice-president of the Manitoba Filipino business council, as part of the council's first-ever all-female board of directors; a chairperson for Kultivation FAMD, a grassroots volunteer-driven group promoting the modern cultural scene in Manitoba's Filipino community; and an advisor for Kabangka.
