December 20, 2022: Interview with Theatre Creator: Vanessa Jev

This Tuesday December 20, 2022 we speak to Vanessa Jev @vanessajev, a playwright and theatre director in Toronto. She has been writing and producing theatre shows for 10 years in the city. Vanessa focuses on the retelling of "western" stories by rewriting them and directing them from an African lens. Her latest production was an African retelling of Cinderella (CIN-DAH-RELLA!). Vanessa is also the Artistic Director of Kwetu Theatre Arts Company a theatre company that focuses on providing lead roles for black actors in the city of Toronto. Vanessa believes it is important for our voices to be heard and told by us and strives to do just that through her work.
