Funky Revolutions is based on the One. Since 1994, host Khalid and guests have invited you to groove & celebrate the history of Africana music - the African diaspora and its musical reflections around the world.
We explore the past, present and future of the funk. From introducing trip-hop to Montréal in the early 90’s, to supporting hip-hop’s underground, to presenting ethno-musicographies of jazz, soul, reggae and afro-funk, Funky Revolutions embraces all grooves & the revolutionary spirit of the Funk, from the Black Arts Movement of the 70s to Indigenous defiances & liberations in the (post) colonial world.

A community discussion hosted by Stefan Christoff on Funky Revolutions featuring these community organizers:
Duha Elmardi, Eman Elawad, Sarah Al-Obeid and Yasser Essa.
This discussion will highlight members of the Sudan Solidarity Collective and Sudanese diaspora in Montreal. This conversation aims to look at the ways that international solidarity and information sharing have been boosted through the use of social media, while also looking at the ways that there are challenges around the fact that the platforms are controlled by corporations.
What role has social media played in building solidarity with Sudan? Why are collective projects like the Sudan Solidarity Collective important for face-to-face community gatherings? How to balance the realities of living in Diaspora, within the context of great injustice in Sudan, with finding ways to create pathways of solidarity against incredible odds?
