We explore the past, present and future of the funk. From introducing trip-hop to Montréal in the early 90’s, to supporting hip-hop’s underground, to presenting ethno-musicographies of jazz, soul, reggae and afro-funk, Funky Revolutions embraces all grooves & the revolutionary spirit of the Funk, from the Black Arts Movement of the 70s to Indigenous defiances & liberations in the (post) colonial world.

Hosted by Stefan Christophe, from Kawalees on Park Ave, this part of a community event series about grassroots mobilization and action in the face of genocide in Palestine, aiming to create space for people to hear from community members who have moved from talk into action, have engaged in collective work toward creating space to both express solidarity with the Palestinian people and also to call out the complicity of the Canadian state with the extremist right-wing government carrying out genocidal actions in Gaza.
