August 12, 2025: Wild Pride and the opposition to Fierté Montréal
Around 10,000 Montrealers gathered on Sunday for a different kind of Pride march.
Under the banner of Wild Pride, marchers made the link between queer and Palestinian liberation.
Organizers say the idea for the march came after how Fierté Montréal leadership responded to last year’s anti-Zionist disruption of the Pride parade. The festival was in hot water again in recent weeks, as they disinvited, and then reinvited, Zionist groups to this year’s parade.
That controversy led many pro-Palestinian marchers to seek another option. But attendees also expressed broader discontent with the corporate-funded event, which they say has strayed too far from Pride’s radical roots.
CKUT spoke to some of the many folks at Wild Pride about what drew them to the alternative march.
