Let's start with uplifting paeans to love from Joe Bonamassa, Shemekia Copeland (with Joe Bonamassa, Slash and Myles Kennedy), Chambers Deslauriers, Mike Zito, Leonard Cohen, The Stephen Barry Band, Mavis Staples, and Asie Payton. The Mighty Duck Blues Band with guest Cheryl Lescom represents the anti-Valentine position. This week's featured new releases are the latest singles from PD Martin, Wreckless Strangers, Luke Winslow-King, Robben Ford, and Samantha Fish. The "history" part of the show starts in 1921 with Mamie Smith and continues with Bessie Smith (no relation), Scrapper Blackwell, Little Walter, Lightnin' Hopkins, Ray Charles, Dutch Mason, Lou Ann Barton, Mike Bloomfield, Bobby Charles, and Irma Thomas. We'll close with a song from Vancouverites Honeybear, The Band who have chosen February to visit our fair city and favour us with a show at L'Escogriffe Bar Spectacle on Thursday. Mr. Pinstripes opens.
