On the 4th Friday of each month at 5 p.m., Migrant Nation - Nation Migrant - Nacion Migrante team delivers in-depth commentary, analysis, and discussion of current news, featuring valuable insights from expert guests. Accompanied by migrant-themed musical interludes, the program also provides guidance designed to enhance the health, civic engagement, and overall well-being of migrants.


You'll also hear a diverse blend of Canadian, Quebecois, and international music, including folk, jazz, pop, classical, and contemporary sounds.


Mission
The mission of Migrant Nation - Nation Migrant - Nacion Migrante is to provide an accessible platform for reliable, certified content, offering a distinct and dignified perspective on the experiences of migrant diasporas, Mostly in Northamerica but also in other corners of the world. The program highlights their contributions, values, and aspirations, both in Canada, the USA and Mexico and in their countries of origin. It aims to challenge the prevailing narratives in mainstream media by sourcing, creating, and sharing trustworthy information while analyzing current events through an impartial lens, guided by expert insights.


General Objectives
- Counteract the defamation of migrants as a collective group.
- Inform the diaspora about their rights and responsibilities.
- Support the integration process of migrants into their new communities.
- Generate and share content addressing the concerns and needs of the diaspora.
- Foster political, social, and cultural dialogue within migrant communities.
- Provide a platform for marginalized voices within the diaspora.
- Facilitate connections between newcomers and experts, officials, and community organizations.
- Encourage reflection and action by turning radio into a tool for individual and collective empowerment.

👩‍🏫 About our guest:

Itzayana Gutiérrez Arillo is a historian, curator, and postdoctoral fellow in Communication and Media Studies at Carleton University. Their research explores anti-Asian racism, media history, migration, print culture, and transcultural belonging across the Americas and Asia. Their work includes research on graphic media, racial violence in print culture, queer underground archives, and historical relationships between Asia and Latin America. They have contributed to international publications, digital exhibits, and museum projects, including collaborations with McGill University, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, and the Museo Barroco Internacional.
