RIP Oliver Jones! A nice and friendly piano player who just wanted to play and be part of the community in Little Burgundy. We also lost in the last year Montreal legends from the same community-- jazz drummer Norman Villeneuve and nightlife figure - DJ - jazz pianist and record producer Alfie Wade. They're all on this episode, as well as their hero Oscar Peterson and jazz club owner Charles Burke and guitarist Nelson Symonds. The 1930s generation! (Charles is doing well and busking jazz flute in Vancouver at 93.) Oliver, like Nelson, could have found much greater fame if he toured or joined the big names in jazz like Oscar did. He was happier just being able to play mostly at home and staying close to his community. RIP Oliver.
