September 13, 2022: Interview with Singer/Songwriter: Chanda Holmes

Who knew Craigslist would aid in the birth of one the funkiest bands from up north. That’s right @chandaandthepassengers Chanda and the Passengers was created via a call to arms in the name of funk by guitarist Zander Masser. 7 musicians with different backgrounds and styles but with the same passion for music came together one glorious night in a Montreal apartment in 2017. Though funk brought them together, they refused to be pigeonholed. Their music, all written and composed by the group, seamlessly moves from RnB to Blues to Jazz to Latin influences with a beautiful cohesiveness. @chandatholmes & The Passengers' live performances are electrifying. The lead singer’s high energy, soulful voice and charm hark from an era that brought us our beloved performers from a modern era. As one fan put it “I need this, it’s healing… your shows are healing!” They have performed on many stages throughout Montreal. They wowed the audiences of the 2019 festival Nuits d’Afrique. In 2018 they released their 2 single debut Medicinal Love which contained the songs Medicinal Mama and Your Love Tonight, received with great reception. Since the release they have spent the time honing their craft and released their debut album in 2020.
