September 12, 2023: Spotlight on the Black Disabled Community with Gailina

For the month of September, we decided to put the spotlight on our community within our community that doesn't often get much airtime. For the entire month we are speaking to folks either from or contributing to the betterment of the disabled community. Some disabilities are visible, but many are also invisible.

Gailina @therealgailina is a full time college student and content creator from the east side of Oklahoma City, OK. She was paralyzed from the chest down in a car wreck on January 12th, 2020, yet today without having access to any physical therapy, she can walk short distances with a cane or walker. Gailina is determined to share her testimony and encourage individuals to go after their dreams despite whatever obstacles may stand in their way. Despite the adversity that Gailina has faced, she continued to live her dreams and accomplish all of the goals that were already in place before she was paralyzed.

Gailina believes that a large part of her healing has come from her everlasting optimism and absence of self doubt. Gailina knows that it’s easy to get discouraged and give up on your goals and/or dreams, but with her platform and her clothing brand ‘I DREAM, I GO.’, Gailina plans to motivate many people across the world to step into their purpose, become the best version of themselves that they can be, and thrive in society.
