October 3, 2023: Interview with Spoken Word Artist: Gabrielle Cohen
Our guest, Gabrielle Cohen is a proud, black spoken word artist of Jamaican descent whose work is a depiction of her lived experiences and the poetic stories of those who inspire her. Mental health, black power, heartbreak and self-love are some of the topics of her multi-layered poems. She became a Toronto Poetry Slam team member in 2018.
The team made history by becoming the 2nd Canadian team to make it to the semi-finals at the 2018 National Poetry Slam in Chicago. They then earned the title of national champions in the 2018 Canadian Festival of Spoken Word.
Join us this Tuesday October 3, 2023 as we talk with Gabrielle about her journey as a spoken word artist, an activist and a mom, with a special guest appearance from her little one at 7-8.30pm on www.ckut.ca or 90.3 on your FM dial!
