September 26, 2023: Spotlight on the Black Disabled Community with Nikkiey Martt
For the month of September, we decided to put the spotlight on our community within our community that doesn't often get much airtime. For the entire month we are speaking to folks either from or contributing to the betterment of the disabled community. Some disabilities are visible, but many are also invisible.
In this final week of September, it is d/Deafness Awareness Week and we are excited to bring you Nikkiey Martt better known as @TheDeafPrincess on all social media platforms is an Intersectionality activist as it pertains to being a black while also being a cis-gendered woman, a member of both the deaf & LGBTQIA+ communities, and mental health advocate.
Nikkey’s mission is to provide open dialogue and education about dismantling the international discrimination of ableism, homophobia, and misogyny within the black community to strengthen us. Join us for this discussion that concludes Soul Perspectives spotlight on the Disabled Black Community, but we want you to continue to find out more on your own and how you can support our community. Tune in from 7-8.30pm on www.ckut.ca or 90.3FM on your Montreal radio dial.
