TONIGHT MARKS THE BEGINNING OF MY 35TH YEAR AT CKUT!!! Last week I featured some of my favourite Canadian blues releases of 2023 so tonight on Cha Cha Cha In Blue I'll feature my faves from everywhere else. In 2023 I received more than 200 new releases, many of which were outstanding. I've whittled it down to fifteen of my favourites from Eddie 9V, Bobby Rush, Duke Robillard, Joe Louis Walker, Joanna Connor, Mitch Woods, Eric Bibb, Bob Corritore, Taj Mahal, Count Basie Orchestra, Monster Mike Welch, the Nick Moss Band, Jason Ricci, Nic Clark, and Christone "Kingfish" Ingram. In the "history" I've got Muddy Waters, Tampa Red, Silas Hogan, Gus Jenkins, Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson, Slim Harpo, Katie Webster, and The Stephen Barry Band. We'll close with a song from award-winning singer-songwriter Rob Lutes in anticipation of his Thursday appearance at Upstairs with Rob MacDonald.
