Tonight on Cha Cha Cha In Blue we start by wishing Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there with songs by the Blackburn Brothers, Lonnie Brooks, Big Bill Morganfield, Shemekia Copeland, Kevin Burt, Toronzo Cannon, and The Snyders. There are songs about dads, by dads, with dads, and a couple of bad dad situations because it ain't all sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows and this IS a blues show. I'm still swamped with new releases so I'll play one each from the new discs by Endrick & the Sandwiches, Jerome Godboo, Adam Karch, Katie Knipp, the Sauce Boss, The Stephen Barry Band, and Damon Fowler. Way back in the early days of the internet a lot of the blues community hung out on the mailing list Blues-L and Sauce Boss Bill Wharton was among the first artists to record a show promo for Cha Cha Cha In Blue. There was real camaraderie back in those days! In the "history" part of the show I've got Bessie Smith, Robert Johnson, Eddie Boyd, Jerry "Boogie" McCain, Muddy Waters, Lonnie Johnson, John Lee Hooker, Lazy Lester, and Steve Dawson. We'll close with a song from the Durham County Poets in advance of their appearance at UPSTAIRS' on Thursday.
