August 13, 2024: Interview with Entrepreneur & Disability Advocate Gailina
Our guest this evening is Gailina. A full-time college student, content creator, and recent TEDx speaker from Oklahoma City, Gailina has defied the odds after being paralyzed from the chest down in a car accident on January 12, 2020. Despite lacking physical therapy, she can now walk short distances with assistance. Gailina uses her journey to inspire others to pursue their dreams, regardless of obstacles. She has garnered over half a million followers and motivated millions, both able-bodied and disabled.
Recently, Gailina delivered her first TEDx talk, emphasizing the power of self-belief in her healing process. To further her impact, she launched a motivational clothing line, ‘I DREAM, I GO,’ designed to help people express their authentic selves and overcome self-doubt. Gailina is also featured in an upcoming children’s book by Pierre Paul, which highlights extraordinary individuals with disabilities, such as Ralph Braun, John Mcfall, and Jacob Bolotin.
In addition to spreading positivity with her vibrant personality, Gailina aims to educate others about the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities, including invisible conditions and incontinence. Her mission is to combat stigma and demonstrate that the disabled community is just as capable and diverse as the able-bodied community. Through her motivational speaking and clothing brand, Gailina seeks to empower people worldwide to embrace their potential, overcome challenges, and thrive.
