HOT NEW SINGLES!
Southern Avenue  Rum Boogie   Favoriting Family  Alligator Records  2025  A new song from GRAMMY-nominated Memphis-based roots, blues, and soul band Southern Avenue. The track tells the story of band’s early days, as they navigated Memphis’ fun and exciting club scene. “Rum Boogie is our love letter to Memphis, the city that shaped our sound and our story." The song is taken from Southern Avenue’s forthcoming Alligator Records debut album Family, slated for release on April 25, 2025.

Early James  Rag Doll   Favoriting Medium Raw  Easy Eye Sound  2025  From "Medium Raw," Early James's third album for Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound. “The comforts and luxury of the studio …wasn’t right for this project. I felt like we might get better results if we did it in a house,” he explains. Producer Auerbach, James and his band decamped at a 100 year old building in Nashville named Honky Chateau, brought an old tube console built by FAME Studios’ Rick Hall and captured these dozen tunes in a predominantly live, one take fashion.

Robbert Duijf  First Train Out   Favoriting Silver Spoon  Naked  2025  Winner of the 2024 European Blues Challenge, released “First Train Out”, an ode to his hometown. The once rich and prosperous city was empty. The coal was no longer needed and the only thing its inhabitants wanted was to leave town on the first train out. In the 80s and 90s, the city faced the scars of the closing of the mines, much like my hometown of Glace Bay. The full album “Silver Spoon” will be released Friday, March 21, 2025

Dion  New York Minute   Favoriting New York Minute – single  Keeping The Blues Alive Records  2025  Legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Dion DiMucci has released his new single, “New York Minute,” to celebrate his new book Dion: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Philosopher. The song is an ode to Dion’s lifelong love affair with New York City and his wife, Susan, to whom he has been married for over 60 years. Here's the official music video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KUcrSr8ctp0

Ringo Starr  Rosetta feat. Billy Strings, Larkin Poe & Joe Walsh   Favoriting Look Up  Universal Music Enterprises  2025  Billy Strings joins Ringo Starr and brings the Larkin Poe sisters for backing vocals and the Eagles’ Joe Walsh on slide guitar on the bluesy “Rosetta.” It’s about an ex he never forgot (“Since you left for another coast/I’ve been haunted by your ghost”) who now reappears with Ringo sighing “It’s been a long hard road.”

Ridge Banks  Blues Catcher   Favoriting Blues Catcher - single  Indie  2025  The Wall of Sound collective holds nothing back in this all-out blues jam. The dueling harmonicas of Sean Clutterham’s and Nashville-based singer-songwriter Ridge Banks send this song to another level culminating in a memorable sing-along ending that embodies Banks' signature "Rugged Acoustic" sound.

Oz Noy & Andrew Synowiec  Kuffle Shuffle   Favoriting Recreational Substance  Andrew Synowiec  2025  "Recreational Substance is pure ear candy for guitar freaks." - Vintage Guitar Magazine Exactly what you'd expect from 2 guys who've both been guests on Jude Gold's "No Guitar Is Safe" podcast.

Joe Bonamassa & Sammy Hagar  Fortune Teller Blues (Radio Edit)   Favoriting Fortune Teller Blues (Radio Edit)  J&R Adventures  2025  A tale of fate and deception, "Fortune Teller Blues" unfolds like a smoky backroom confession. The song’s lyrics chronicle an eerie encounter with a cryptic fortune teller who refuses to reveal the whole truth, leaving the narrator to wrestle with what’s better left unknown. "Joe was in a particularly gritty mood and played the entire track on an Ovation acoustic guitar plugged into an overdriven amplifier, producing a chaotic, heavy, and almost eerie sound," says producer Kevin Shirley.

  8:05pm George Akiki:

Sorry for the late comment, I listened for a third time, as usual, to fully absorb the bluesiness of the show. I enjoyed it, a little different flavour, kept finding myself tapping my foot. Three thumbs up.
