Favoriting

Panacea has the goal of initiating open conversations and reducing stigma surrounding mental health and mental illness. To do so, Michelle teaches 'mental health 101' and shares some of her own experiences living with mental illness.

The positive impact that mental health literacy can have in your own life, and for the people around you, is what drives her. If her words can inspire empathy and change at least one person's perspective or make someone feel less alone, then she has done her job. Join us for some fun tunes and vulnerable conversations!

Every 4th and 5th Thursday of the month, 2 - 3pm (EDT)

Favoriting February 27, 2025: Interview: Dr. Eric Hehman on Prejudice Research: Regional Analyses + Predictability

We are joined with Dr. Eric Hehman, Associate Professor of Psychology at McGill University and director of the Seeing Human Lab. Dr. Hehman is a social psychologist conducting research on regional analyses of prejudice and physical and mental health related outcomes. Another domain of research he’s working on includes coming up with a mathematical formula to predict human behaviour, sort of like a weather forecast but for humans!

Previously on the show, we’ve talked about implicit prejudice and the IAT, as well as stereotyping and discrimination with a specific focus on dehumanization. This time, we focus specifically on prejudice and its real world manifestations or consequences in policies and laws, and in physical and mental health outcomes.

We then chat a little bit about what it looks like to create a mathematical formula to predict prejudice and what sort of things go into creating something like that.

Check out prejudicemap.org for the, you guessed it, prejudice map. lol
