Tonight on Cha Cha Cha In Blue it's our annual BACK-TO-SCHOOL SPECIAL! We'll feature appropriately themed songs from Saffire - The Uppity Blues Women, Junior Wells, Dave Specter, Jerry Lee Lewis, Dale Hawkins, Mickey & Sylvia, Robert "Dr Bobus" Paquin, Son of Dave, Johnny Max Band, The Nick Moss Band. and the Arc Angels. Next we'll pay tribute to J.D. Slim, our friend who passed away last Sunday and enjoy some of his music, including exclusive appearances at CKUT. In the "history" set we start in 1946 with Louis Armstrong and continue with Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup, Memphis Slim, Jimmy Reed, Sonny Boy Williamson, Jesse Fortune, Junior Wells, Zuzu Bollin, Adam Karch, and Rory Block with birthday celebrant Joanna Connor. We'll close with a song from Otis - Ali Blues Group who will be appearing Thursday at Upstairs. I hope they don't mind that I used one of the songs they posted on Facebook as a preview of their upcoming album and a prime example of their devotion to old school Chicago blues.
