Bobby Charles  Spent All My Money Loving You feat. Sonny Landreth   Favoriting Last Train To Memphis  The Last Music Company  2025  Reissue of a lost 2004 gem due Nov 21, 2025. Bobby Charles had stacks of recordings but lost nearly everything when fire consumed his Abbeville home in the mid-‘90s. Still, the tracks he’d been quietly recording since the ‘70s — with the likes of Willie Nelson, Neil Young, Fats Domino, Clarence “Frogman” Henry, Sonny Landreth, Delbert McClinton, Dan Penn, Spooner Oldham, and Maria Muldaur sitting in on the sessions — were there. Reissue also includes the original bonus second disc & will be available on vinyl for the 1st time! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rp62Exx7nn4

Sue Foley  You Got Me Where You Want Me   Favoriting The Last Real Texas Blues Album  New West Records  2025  Austin’s legendary “Home of the Blues” – is celebrating its 50th anniversary with the release of Antone’s: 50 Years of the Blues, a four-LP, 41-track box set out now via New West Records. "It was a real honor to be part of the Antone’s 50th Anniversary box set and The Last Real Texas Blues Album. For my contribution, I chose the song 'You Got Me Where You Want Me,' by Antone’s family member, the late swamp-blues legend Lazy Lester. We used to see Lester around the club all the time—he had such effortless style, unforgettable songs, and a real down-to-earth spirit. This track is something special too, with three guitars—myself, Derek O’Brien, and Anson Funderburgh." (BTW Mark “Kaz” Kazanoff on HARP) Sue will make her Austin City Limits debut with the Antone's Allstar Band on Nov 8. She also has a book coming out next year, Guitar Women: Conversations with the Heroines of Guitar (Sutherland House, 2026), chronicling her interviews with groundbreaking female players. Did you know that she also holds a PhD in Musicology from York University? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GufiUDACOLc

Spencer Mackenzie  Shoot Me Down   Favoriting Empty Chairs  Gypsy Soul Records  2025  JUNO-nominated and Maple Blues Award winner Spencer Mackenzie released “Shoot Me Down” on Friday. It's the second single taken from his upcoming third studio album Empty Chairs to be released by Gypsy Soul Records on February 20th, 2026. he says it's "... a raw reflection on one-sided love and the weight of carrying a relationship alone. Every note feels like a push and pull between hope and frustration, the sound of giving everything to someone who won’t meet you halfway. The song’s message is you can’t spend your life making up someone else’s mind if all they ever do is tear you down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYnug_4IVlE
