Let's dive headfirst into my 37th year at CKUT! It was on January 4, 1990 that I hosted my very first show on CKUT, The Mornin' Roll & Tumble which aired Thursday mornings from 9-11am. Since we started our year-end wrap-up last week with a dozen of my favourite Canadian releases, tonight on Cha Cha Cha In Blue we'll revisit some of my other faves of 2025. In order of release date we'll hear Tomislav Goluban With Crooked Eye Tommy, Frank Bey, Sunny Bleau & The Moons, Tommy Castro & The Painkillers, Will Wilde, Bob Corritore, Bobby Rush & Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Popa Chubby, Tony Holiday, Samantha Fish, Tad Robinson, Charlie Musselwhite, Larry McCray, and D.K. Harrell. As numerous as they were I was only able to make it to June so part two will be next week. The "history" part of the show goes back to a 1925 recording by Clara Smith and continues with Jelly Roll Morton, Frank Wess (with Kenny Burrell & Freddie Greene!), Gus Jenkins, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Silas Hogan, King Biscuit Boy, The Stephen Barry Band, Franck Goldwasser, Charlie Sayles, and Kim Wilson. We'll close with a song from Otis Ali Blues Group who will be at UPSTAIRS JAZZ on Thursday.
