Tonight on Cha Cha Cha In Blue I was pleased to discover that 22 of the top 50 albums on the Canadian Big Blues Chart are, in fact, Canadian artists, including 4 from Quebec. We dedicate our opening set to them with music from Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar, Big Time Lew, Father 'N' Son, Mich And The Blues Bastards, Bywater Call, Danny Marks, Justin Saladino, and David Gogo. BTW David's "YEAH!" was released June 14, 2024 so to still be charting 2 years later is quite an accomplishment! This week's new releases are the latest singles from A.J. Fullerton, Ben Poole, Jake Soberlak, Cliff Stevens, Big Harp George, and Dana Fuchs. The history part of tonight's show starts in 1923 with Rosa Henderson, followed by music from Jelly Roll Morton, Cow Cow Davenport, Charley Patton, Jack Kelly, Cab Calloway, Miles Davis with Rubberlegs Williams, Roy Milton, B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Johnny Winter, JW-Jones, and MonkeyJunk with David Wilcox. Raoul Bhaneja & Jesse Whiteley bring their jazz duo Blue Standard to UPSTAIRS on Saturday and we'll close the show with a song from their debut album.
