May 18, 2022: Interview with Montréal author and journalist Tarah Schwartz
"In this memoir, Tarah recounts her unexpected, emotional and inspiring journey to motherhood. As a long time news reporter, she spent years working in front of a television camera, telling stories that reflected the power of the human spirit to survive. This time she tells her own."
In the second half of the show, we feature a compelling talk, borrowed from Canadian feminist radio show Wings, by Ibu Robin Lim, a Filipino-Micronesian-American Certified Professional midwife, whose passion is Human Rights in Childbirth. Based in Bali, Indonesia, she works with midwives across the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, promoting mother-empowering birthing methods, and supporting safe and loving births in distressed communities and disaster zones. She contrasts this with the protocol-driven practice of colonized birth in many parts of the world.
