Favoriting April 26, 2022: Interview with Author: David Kalloo

David Kalloo was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad. He spent most of his impressionable years growing up between Arima and San Juan where he attended a Seventh Day Adventist School.

Completing his BA in Caribbean Studies and Media Studies in 2008, he recently graduated with an MA in International Relation. David has been a judge with the Notting Hill carnival for 3 consective years and also judged Hackney One Carnival. He also sat on a judging panel for a short story competition in conjuction with Black History Month 2017, organised by a leading city Law firm. He is the founder and editor of the online magazine, Culturepulse. A publication dedicated to connecting the people of the Caribbean Diaspora.

David has written three books Green Mango Chow, Does the Crime Epidemic in Trinidad and Tobago Cast a Negative Impact on the Country’s Economy, Regionally and Internationally? and a contributing chapter in; Celebrating Trinidad and Tobago’s Culture and the Arts, his latest Jumbie in Town is out now.

We talk with David about his journey and his fascination with “Jumbies” wonderfully surmised in his book “Jumbie in Town” join us Tuesday April 26, from 7-8.30pm on www.ckut.ca or 90.3FM.
