March 14, 2023: Interview with DJ BlackGold
Dancer, performer, teacher and DJ, Mithra "Myth" Rabel is a multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Montreal with Haitian background. She started her professional career with salsa, where she evolved in the scene by dancing in well-known venues around the city and teaching this art form for more than 5 years.
From there, Myth pursued her path in street dance, specifically, house dance, which she has been performing and teaching since 2008. At the same time, she graduated from the artistic and professional training program in dance (PEFAPDA) at Zab Maboungou/Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata in 2011, where she taught and performed in dance pieces like Lwáza, Montréal by Night and Mozongi.
Known as well as DJ BlackGold @dj.blackgold, she has played in numerous venues and events in Montreal such as Oasis at Pied du Courant hosted by Oasis MTL (@oasismtl), Boogie Montréal at Entrepôt 77 hosted by FLAT COLA (@flatcola_mtl) and BKYARD BOOGIE (@bkyardboogie) and more. This electrifying DJ has been a guest DJ for Queen & Queer, the 2022 International Women’s DJ Online Radio Festival (@internationalwomensdj), Abusia Radio (@abusiaradio) and The Goods on CKUT radio (@ckutmtl).
BlackGold currently hosts a weekly show called Delighted on Twitch. There she plays a wide range of house music to bring people together wherever they are in the world so they can vibe, relate and release.
