A visionary choreographer, philosopher, and cultural pioneer, Zab Maboungou’s artistic journey spans continents, disciplines, and generations. Born in Paris, raised in Congo-Brazzaville, and now a driving force in Montréal’s cultural scene, Zab has redefined dance with her groundbreaking LO.KE.TO method and her belief that “bodies have their own incommensurable life.”

🎭 In 1987, she founded Compagnie Danse Nyata Nyata and later created the PEFAPDA, a professional dance training program nurturing new talent. Her work has graced stages across four continents, celebrated for its spiritual depth, rhythmic power, and unification of body and mind.

🏆 Zab’s accolades include: ✨ 2023 – Inducted into the Dance Collection Danse Hall of Fame ✨ 2020 – Recipient of the Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, Canada’s highest artistic honor ✨ 2019 – Named Compagne de l’Ordre des arts et des lettres du Québec

In 2024, Zab’s company acquired the Centre Création Danse Nyata Nyata, a new space dedicated to fostering creativity and artistic practice.
