Favoriting March 2, 2025: EVERYONE OLD IS NEW AGAIN! NEW RELEASES! This Week In Blues History! Where It's At (The Live Music Roundup)!

Listen to this show: Pop-up listenListen | Download

Tonight on Cha Cha Cha In Blue it dawned on me that my opening set was crowded with new releases from octogenarians and a septuagenarian - Buddy Guy (88) & Switchfoot, Irma Thomas (83) & Galactic, Charlie Musselwhite (81), and Santana (77). Add Jon Cleary (62) plus a couple of artists whose ages are unknown but truth be told, they're not on any "Thirty Under Thirty" lists: Pat Smillie, Misty Blues, and Little Georgie and The Shuffling Hungarians. This isn't meant as a criticism because these songs are all killers. This week's featured new releases are from Bob Corritore And Friends, Will Wilde, and The Bob Lanza Blues Band. In the "history" set we go back to 1935 for a song recorded by Lucille Bogan and continue with Tampa Red, Ike Turner, Tiny Grimes, Bo Diddley, J.B. Lenoir, “Shakey” Jake Harris, Peter Wolf, King Ernest, Jeff Healey, David Lindley, and The Sugar Darlings. We'll close with a song from Dawn Tyler Watson who will be at the Taverne Lady Davidson on Thursday.

Talk Time ID         Will Wilde picked up his first harmonica at a house party when he was sixteen.  “I basically nicked it,” he says. “It was a cheap plastic Guinness harmonica just lying around amongst the drink bottles and cigarette butts, I was drawn to it.”  From then on playing became an obsession. Will gained popularity on Youtube with his harmonica covers of classic rock guitar solos, such as Lynyrd Skynyrd's Free Bird, which racked up over 3.5 million views, and helped him gain his 93K+ subscribers.
