Mississippi Moonshine Mama is not only a song for Irene, it’s also a song with a strong message that community radio presenters are appreciated. R.I.P. JOE LOUIS WALKER (December 25, 1949 – April 30, 2025)
Talk Time ID         A six-time Blues Music Award winner Joe Louis Walker has about three dozen albums to his credit. Over the course of his long career, Walker opened for legends including Muddy Waters and Thelonious Monk; and counted among his friends and contemporaries the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Freddie King, and Mississippi Fred McDowell. He was also a close friend and former roommate of guitar virtuoso Mike Bloomfield. I've been fortunate to have seen him a number of times - Mont Tremblant, l'Astral, & even at the old G-Sharp from whence I have an unconfirmed report that he got into a physical altercation with Gary Sharp.

Listener chat!

  11:03pm George Akiki:

I had to write immediately after listening to Lonnie Shields’s song (our fight for freedom), I couldn’t hear no other song.
I will re-listen a couple of times because of that song. Good show. 👍🏼
