Tonight on Cha Cha Cha In Blue we wish a HAPPY FATHER'S DAY with "Dad Songs" by Lonnie Brooks, Ronnie Baker Brooks, The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer, and Big Bill Morganfield. Then the Blackburn Brothers provide the bridge to "Dad Bands" by backing their dad, the legendary Bobby Dean Blackburn, thus paving the way for The Snyders (Southside Denis with Lorrie & Philip), Alan Gerber (with Eli & Hannah) and Eric & Olivier Derkzen van Angeren, who adopted the band name Father 'N' Son. This week's new releases are the latest singles from Marcus King, Larry McCray, the Texas Headhunters, and the Sons of Levin. In the "history" set we go back more than a hundred years for two 1923 recordings by Bessie Smith followed by Lonnie Johnson & Eddie Lang, Lillie Mae Kirkman, Grace Brim, John Lee Hooker, Eddie Boyd, Bill Doggett, Jerry McCain, Lazy Lester, Matt “Guitar” Murphy, and Steve Dawson. Alec McElcheran is doing the 5 À 9 thing at Bistro À Jojo on Wednesday & Thursday so we'll close with a song from his latest album "A Year Of Someday".
