Offenbach  Caline De Blues   Favoriting L'Ultime · Offenbach  Disques Helena  1972  In The Rustic Inn in Saint-Sauveur-des-Monts on a Friday afternoon in December of 1971 Offenbach was rehearsing for that night’s performance and waiting for Pierre Harel to arrive. They started playing around a “walking boogie” lead by Michel Lamothe. When Harel arrived, Gerry Boulet was singing “That’s why, that’s why I’m singing the blues”. Harel then composed French lyrics on a paper place-mat that became the lyric “L’aut’soir, l’aut’soir, j’ai chanté du blues." Another one in the Canadian Songwriters Hall Of Fame

At a time when recording artists were often limited to performing covers of French or American hits, Gilles Valiquette also wanted to prove he had the know-how to compose a truly authentic hit.
