Listen to this show: Pop-up listenListen | Download

Tonight on Cha Cha Cha In Blue we start with new singles by the Altered Five Blues Band, Spencer Mackenzie, Dylan Triplett, Mike Finnigan, Tyler Bryant, and our own Jesse Creatchman. Our featured new release this week is by Toronto's Lily Sazz. I have a conversation with Father 'N' Son, winners of the Montreal Blues Society's Quebec-To-Memphis contest about their upcoming trip and their new album. The "history" part starts with a couple of Robert Johnson tunes and continues with Dr. Isaiah Ross, Big Joe Turner, H-Bomb Ferguson, R.L. Burnside, Albert Collins, Dawn Tyler Watson, Shakura S'Aida, and Mike DeWay. We'll close with a song from Steve Strongman who will perform an acoustic show at Studio Victor sponsored by Godin Guitars on Thursday, along with special guest Justin Saladino.

His career included hundreds of studio and live credits with major artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Bonnie Raitt, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, and Joe Cocker. This song, written by Curtis Salgado and Dave Duncan, puts a clever spin on the blues tradition, featuring the lyric “I learned more about the blues from two weeks with you, than 20 years of B.B. King.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmcCcbjI9rM

Lily Sazz  I Can't Jam   Favoriting What Just Happened  Indie  2025  Special guest Mike Branton (guitar, background vocal) Scott Apted (drums, tambourine, background vocal), Wayne DeAdder (bass, background vocal), Lily Sazz (piano, vocal). “I Can’t Jam” was a late addition, written just before it was recorded. It’s wild. It’s crazy. It’s ironic. And I can’t remember having more fun recording a song. I’m so glad to have feminist male musician friends who got the irony and played their parts perfectly! A kickass performance that’s perfect in its spontaneous imperfection. Don’t miss the devolution of the jam and the punchline at the very end.
