On Cha Cha Cha In Blue, the longest-running blues show in Montreal, host John Detcheverry devotes equal time to the classics, new releases and Canadian artists. On the air since 1990.

Listeners can expect to hear the likes of Paul Deslauriers, Buddy Guy, Otis Rush, Pop Staples, Downchild, Steve Rowe, MonkeyJunk, and Charlie Musselwhite, as well as live performances and interviews.

Tonight on Cha Cha Cha In Blue we deliver the sad news that a Canadian blues icon was lost this week with the passing of Tim Williams and we'll remember him through his music. We'll also present the latest blues(y) singles from Honeybear, The Band, Shakura S'Aida, Jesse Creatchman, The Commoners, two songs from Vol. lll of Joe Bonamassa's tribute to B.B. King, and we'll start with the current incarnation of Ruf Records Blues Caravan 2026 consisting of Matthew Curry, Elise Frank, and Laura Chavez. The new release deck has Kim Wilson, Jon Hines, Grant Lyle, and the Johnny Max Band stacked on the spindle. The "history" part starts a little over a hundred years ago with a song by Sippie Wallace then continues with Louis Armstrong, Robert Nighthawk, Larry Davis, Sonny Boy Williamson, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Shuggie Otis, Jody Williams, Mike Morgan, and Savoy Brown. We'll have three opportunities to catch Steve Rowe this week - hosting the jam at Duffy's on Wednesday, Thursday at Délires et Délices in Chambly and Saturday at Smoke Meat Pete in Île-Perrot so we'll close with a song from his "Urban Bluesman" cd.

  Talk Time ID         "Slow Burn" is the follow-up to Kim Wilson's Grammy-nominated release, The Bigtone Sessions. Joining Kim on much of the record are three amazing blues musicians who recently passed, Richard Innes (2015) on drums, Barrelhouse Chuck (2016) on piano, and Larry Taylor (2019) from Canned Heat on bass.

Jon Hines  Working Man   Favoriting Memphis Sun  Indie  2025  Jon Hines is a Cape Breton based, Canadian blues musician fresh off a two month Australian tour. He is a two time winner of the East Coast Blues Society, “Maritime to Memphis” blues challenge, where he represented Atlantic Canada in Memphis, Tennessee during the IBC, placing as a semi finalist in 2025 band category. Hines also received the Blues Recording Artist of the Year award for Music Nova Scotia and is a two-time ECMA nominated artist for Blues Recording of the Year.   Talk Time ID         Canada lost one of its blues icons this week with the passing of Tim Williams, who began his career in the coffee houses of Southern California as a teenager and after recording and touring for his first LP moved north to Canada, where he discovered both a lively folk music community and a flourishing studio scene. In 1974, after recording several country-folk singles for Vancouver labels, Tim left the city and the music business for life as a horse wrangler and all-around ranch hand for several years, emerging long enough to record the LPs Writin’ This Song and It’s Enough To Be Remembered, and touring coast-to-coast in Canada.
