Favoriting March 22, 2026: NIGHT OF TOO MANY SONGS! NEW SINGLES! This Week In Blues History! Where It's At (The Live Music Roundup)!

Listen to this show: Pop-up listenListen | Download

I was going to label tonight's Cha Cha Cha In Blue as the "NIGHT OF TOO MANY SONGS because I already used "SINGLES NIGHT" a couple of weeks ago but it really is even more applicable tonight. I've crammed 15 new singles into the first hour, some from upcoming albums and some as stand-alone releases. The first set brings new music from Mike Zito, Luke Winslow-King, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Laura Cox, Tim Ambler, Ethan Askey & The Elevators, and Russ Green. In the second set we'll hear from the 11 Guys Quartet, Ghalia Volt, Gina Coleman, Hollie Rogers, Duane Betts, CD Woodbury Trio, The Reverend Shawn Amos, and The Black Keys. The "history" part of the show starts in 1949 with a song from Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup and continues with Archibald, Professor Longhair, Big Memphis Ma Rainey, Jerry "Boogie" McCain, Sammy Lewis & The Willie Johnson Combo, Sonny Boy Williamson, Albert King, J.D. Slim, Herb Ellis & Stuff Smith, Otis Ali Blues Group, and Johnny "Clyde" Copeland. We'll close with a song from Cécile Doo-Kingué in advance of her appearance Thursday at the Cabaret-Théâtre du Vieux-Saint-Jean in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. She is also the guitarist for the "house band" at the upcoming inaugural Canadian Blues Music Awards. So catch her when you can.

Luke Winslow-King  Don't Worry Your Mind   Favoriting Coast of Light  Bloodshot Records  2026  “Don’t Worry Your Mind’ began as a quiet lullaby in waltz time—an intimate, almost whispered melody—before it found its pulse and stepped into the light. What starts as a cradle song can end up a driving shuffle. There are no rules." The full album is due Friday March 27 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HBCYLRjayM

Laura Cox  Not Your Story   Favoriting Not Your Story - single  earMUSIC  2026  Lyrically, the song dives into the maze of ambition, pressure, and identity. It captures the moment when chasing someone else’s dream becomes a trap. “Not Your Story” becomes both a warning and a wake-up call: if the dream isn’t yours, what’s the point of chasing it?

Ethan Askey & The Elevators  Zamboni Girl   Favoriting Zamboni Girl - single  Indie  2026  Cranbrook-based quartet Ethan Askey and the Elevators celebrate the deep ties we in Canada and Cranbrook have to the game of hockey, the number of NHL players and champions this town has produced, and how they got their start playing on the “smooth, smooth” ice of Cranbrook - it celebrates those who keep that ice cool and smooth for the players, especially the Zamboni operators, and in particular, the “Zamboni Girl,” a friend of Askey’s who drives the Zamboni in true Canadian, rock and roll fashion. Gina Coleman  Graveyard Dream Blues   Favoriting Uncrowned: A Tribute To Ida Cox  Guitar One Records  2026  "Graveyard Dream Blues" was originally released by Ida Cox in 1923 and it was a cornerstone of her repertoire, featuring a haunting narrative where the singer wakes up in tears after dreaming of her partner’s burial. The song was notable for its eerie atmosphere and its macabre imagery which was often found in the female-led vaudeville blues of the times. Gina Coleman - founder and leader of the band Misty Blues - will release "Uncrowned: A Tribute to Ida Cox" May 29, 2026

Hollie Rogers  Everything's Fine   Favoriting Everything's Fine  Indie  2026  "Everything’s Fine" is the 3rd single and title track from Hollie's 2026 album, co-written and performed with Elles Bailey & Beth Nielsen Chapman. A song that resonates with busy people, parents, and particularly women – who are masters in the art of “keep calm and carry on.” Even when we’re juggling far too much and everything around us is falling apart, we smile and say, “Everything’s fine!” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrjf9533KZQ

  1:01pm George Akiki:

As usual a very good show. This time it was a one, two punch.
You started and ended with a couple of hard rocking blues songs.
You shook me and kept me awake through out the show. 👍🏼
