Tonight on Cha Cha Cha In Blue we celebrate Father's Day with a two-part tribute. First are songs that are by or about dads in "DAD SONGS" by Lonnie Brooks, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Shemekia Copeland, Roger "Hurricane" Wilson, the Blackburn Brothers, Big Bill Morganfield, and the Sterling Blues Band. Then it's "DAD BANDS" - dads recording with their kids as done by John Campbelljohn & daughter Cassie Campbell, Eric Derkzen van Angeren (father) and Olivier (son) who represented us in Memphis as the duo Father 'N' Son, The Snyders (Denis with Lorrie & Philip), and Alan Gerber (with Eli & Hannah Gerber). This week's featured new releases are advance singles from upcoming albums by our own Jesse Creatchman, Janiva Magness, and The Anthony Paule Soul Orchestra featuring Willy Jordan & Larry Batiste. The history part of tonight's show starts again in 1923 with Bessie Smith, followed by music from Elizabeth Johnson, Frankie 'Half-Pint' Jaxon, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker, Albert King, Pee Wee Crayton, Bobby "Blue" Bland, Jeff Beck, Georgie Fame, and Tad Robinson. We'll close with a song from D.K. Harrell who'll be at the Scène Rogers for two sets on Sunday, one of the many free shows at the FIJM (Jazz Fest).
