CKUT has a journalist-in-residence, Jules Bugiel. Her work is supported by the Community Radio Fund of Canada, through the Local Journalism Initiative.

Jules covers grassroots news in Montreal, with an eye to:

  • small-scale stories that are under-covered;
  • public interest stories;
  • movements challenging social structures and power relations;
  • the impacts of the housing and cost-of-living crises;
  • news from McGill and the surrounding community.

She is accredited with the Canadian Association of Journalists and has won an RTDNA award, and been nominated for a CAJ award, for her work at the station.

Her stories air every Tuesday at 5:00 pm on Off The Hour, with the full archives available online.

You can also find the web stories on Frequency.

All stories are free to republish, in full, through a Creative Commons license. More details here.
