Programming

CKUT’s music programming emphasizes the uncommon, the new, and the daring. We have a variety of specialized music programs as well as open format programs that span many musical genres. DJs make their own musical selections, without the aid of a playlist, choosing from recordings sent to CKUT by artists and record companies around the world as well as from their own private collections.

CKUT’s spoken word programming features alternative news, public affairs and arts and culture shows.

Unmuted is a Monday morning radio show hosted by Svetlana and Miss Trish, two Black women bringing real conversation back to radio. No rehearsed personas, no pretending everything is fine. Just honest, unfiltered dialogue about real life and mental health; the kind of conversations that make you feel seen and invite reflection. Airing every Monday from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, Unmuted explores what people are truly navigating: pressure, healing, burnout, relationships, shifting friendships, confidence, boundaries, financial stress, purpose, and the quiet battles rarely shared online. Some weeks are heavy, some are light and hilarious, but every episode comes from a place of authenticity. Music is an essential part of the experience. Unmuted moves to a feel-good blend of Afrobeats, Neo-soul, Konpa, and Caribbean sounds; because your morning should feel like momentum.
