Programming

CKUT’s music programming emphasizes the uncommon, the new, and the daring. We have a variety of specialized music programs as well as open format programs that span many musical genres. DJs make their own musical selections, without the aid of a playlist, choosing from recordings sent to CKUT by artists and record companies around the world as well as from their own private collections.

CKUT’s spoken word programming features alternative news, public affairs and arts and culture shows.

Radio TET: La Voz de los Trabajadores Extranjeros Temporales en Canadá

A radio magazine dedicated to Temporary Foreign Workers of Latino origin (60,000 Mexican, Guatemalan, etc.), working with the Program of Temporary Foreign Workers in the food industry, and another 50,000 who may be working with private employment agencies at home as caregivers, clerks, etc.

Alternative Radio

Alternative Radio, established in 1986, is an award-winning weekly one-hour public affairs program offered free to all public radio stations in the U.S., Canada, Europe and beyond. AR provides information, analyses, and views that are frequently ignored or distorted in corporate media. With headquarters based in Boulder, Colorado and with only two full-time and two part-time paid staff, AR airs on almost 300 radio stations. Our project is sustained by donations and by listener purchases of season subscriptions, recordings, and transcripts. Airs on Grey Matters, Thursdays at 7pm.

Gay & Grey Montreal is a social, mutual aid and sensitization network for English-speaking 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals over the age of 50 in Montreal and the surrounding area. We are committed to reducing isolation and improving the quality of life for 2SLGBTQIA+ seniors, while promoting appropriate services in a positive, caring environment for 2-spirited, lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, asexual and anyone who identifies as belonging within this rainbow umbrella who lives in Montreal and Quebec.

All Kanien'kéha Radio is a rebroadcast of a show airing originally on Reviving Kanehsatà:ke Radio - RKR 101.7 FM in Kanehsatà:ke. It is entirely in Kanien'kéha, the Mohawk language. CKUT is proud to make this program available to its listeners. 2021-2024

"Viewpoints" is the latest podcast and news magazine produced by the Community Radio Fund of Canada (CRFC). Radio Renoviction is a new monthly radio program on CKUT, putting a human face to the wave of gentrification and renovictions plaguing Montreal. Once a month, we'll broadcast personal stories of displacement and provide information, analysis and solutions to this growing housing crisis affecting tenants everywhere. Future Is Now [ARCHIVED]

FUTURE IS NOW is a podcast series exploring intersections between art and social change, produced by Z Gallery’s Shahrzad Arshadi and Caroline Künzle. The title comes from a song by German punk rock singer Nina Hagen. She sings: “1968 is over, it’s over, … Future Is Now! It’s really gonna be a better world.” Her lyrics express our feeling that change for a better world is happening right now, through the work of many. In each episode, we will tell you these stories of change: stories of artists and art projects that inspire us. As you listen, we hope they will inspire you too.
