Tanner Menard and Martín Rodríguez @ Flux Festival

On October 05, 2025, at Centre d’Art Daphne, Tanner Menard and Martín Rodríguez put on a brilliant night of poetry and sound art for Flux Festival!

The show began with Rodríguez’s sound performance. He walked through the crowd, setting up radios in different spots around the room, moving the radios in order to experiment with the acoustics of the space. At various points in the show, the sound shifted based on the radios’ proximity to one another. Rodríguez’s performance featured a range of sounds from the many places he has lived, focusing primarily on the theme of migration. The audience fell into an almost meditative state as the sounds evolved, from birds chirping to church bells, and everything in between.

Tanner Menard, an artist and writer from New Orleans, followed Martín Rodriguez, inviting the crowd to gather around him in a circle. He began his performance by leading the group in breath exercises, establishing a peaceful mood and a sense of connectivity among the crowd. Surrounded by multicolored candles in the dark room, he recited a poem. Menard’s work highlights the interplay between spirituality and creativity in today’s world. He played his recent album, The Poet, which features poetic verse and ambient musical accompaniment.

Menard and Rodríguez fostered a unique and welcoming space of creativity with their performances. Many thanks to Flux Festival for making this night possible! Check out Menard’s Bandcamp and Rodríguez’s website to learn more about the artists!
