Programming

CKUT’s music programming emphasizes the uncommon, the new, and the daring. We have a variety of specialized music programs as well as open format programs that span many musical genres. DJs make their own musical selections, without the aid of a playlist, choosing from recordings sent to CKUT by artists and record companies around the world as well as from their own private collections.

CKUT’s spoken word programming features alternative news, public affairs and arts and culture shows.

Future Is Now

FUTURE IS NOW is a podcast series exploring intersections between art and social change, produced by Z Gallery’s Shahrzad Arshadi and Caroline Künzle. The title comes from a song by German punk rock singer Nina Hagen. She sings: “1968 is over, it’s over, … Future Is Now! It’s really gonna be a better world.” Her lyrics express our feeling that change for a better world is happening right now, through the work of many. In each episode, we will tell you these stories of change: stories of artists and art projects that inspire us. As you listen, we hope they will inspire you too.

Panacea has the goal of initiating open conversations and reducing stigma surrounding mental health and mental illness. To do so, Michelle teaches 'mental health 101' and shares some of her own experiences living with mental illness. The positive impact that mental health literacy can have in your own life, and for the people around you, is what drives her. If her words can inspire empathy and change at least one person's perspective or make someone feel less alone, then she has done her job. Join us for some fun tunes and vulnerable conversations!
